Disruptive climate campaigns in 11 countries.

  • We work with an international network of activists, the A22 Network, who have built incredible power for climate solutions.

  • They have created a proven method for scaling up disruptive protest

  • Climate Emergency Fund is their lead funder.

Rapid Growth and Media Breakthroughs

These groups took their first actions in 2022.

In less than a year, most A22 groups had become the most prominent climate group in their home countries.

Each group generated incredible amounts of press coverage and fundamentally changed the conversation around their chosen demand.

In 2022, 23,000 press stories covered these 11 groups and their demands!

Who is in the A22 Network, and who do they want?

WHAT DO THE GROUPS IN THE A22 NETWORK SHARE?

  • It needs to be easy to understand what “the ask” is and that the campaign will end as soon as the government makes a clear response to it.

  • Nonviolent disruption has to continue day after day, week after week, to build momentum, publicity and pressure on the government to respond.

  • Hundreds of meetings on and offline have to be organized in a systematic way to recruit people to engage in the campaigns of civil disobedience.

  • A small group of up to eight skilled organizers who create a coherent strategy and make the key decisions on the operation of the campaign.

  • By learning from and coordinating our campaigns, we amplify the impact.
