Rose Zheng Abramoff, PhD (she, they), is a research scientist and an activist. Rose studies the effect of climate change and human land use on a variety of ecosystems, including temperate and Mediterranean forests, Arctic tundra, and agricultural fields. Rose is an organizer and climate justice activist with multiple groups, including Scientist Rebellion, and as of May 2023, has been arrested six times resisting various aspects of the fossil economy, including campaigns to declare a climate emergency, ban private jets, cancel Global South debt, and stop fossil fuel expansion at local, national, and international levels.
Rose has worked with non-profits in the past, including the ClimateMusic Project, Community Resources for Science, and Luminarium Dance Company. For engaging in climate activism, Rose has been fired from their job at a major national laboratory, kicked out of a scientific conference, superglued, chained, lock-boxed and blockaded all manner of infrastructure, and will likely continue to stir up trouble.
